Yes. For AI inference (Llama 3.1 8B, Mistral, Gemma), speech-to-text (Whisper), and text-to-speech (Kokoro) — ClawBox works fully offline after initial setup. All models are stored on the 512GB NVMe SSD and run on the 67 TOPS NVIDIA GPU. Internet is only needed if you choose to use cloud AI APIs (Claude, GPT) or messaging services (Telegram) — both are optional.

ClawBox offline features include: local LLM conversations (Llama 3.1 8B at 15 tok/s), voice recognition (Whisper STT, 90+ languages), voice responses (Kokoro TTS), file management, coding assistance, document analysis, note-taking, reminders, calendar management (local), and home automation (Home Assistant on local network). All process data stays on the device.

ClawBox uses OpenAI Whisper Large v3 running locally on the NVIDIA GPU. Accuracy is comparable to cloud speech recognition services — supporting 90+ languages with automatic language detection. Since it runs on the 67 TOPS GPU, recognition is real-time with minimal latency. Your voice recordings never leave the device.

Absolutely. ClawBox is ideal for environments with unreliable or no internet: remote locations, secure facilities, boats, cabins, or privacy-sensitive environments. Once set up on WiFi (or wired ethernet), all local AI features run regardless of internet connectivity. For internet-dependent features like cloud APIs or Telegram messaging, those will simply be unavailable without internet — but local AI continues to function.

For most everyday tasks, the difference is minimal. Llama 3.1 8B running locally handles conversations, coding, writing, analysis, and Q&A very well. Where cloud AI (Claude 3, GPT-4) has an edge is in very complex multi-step reasoning, very recent information (post-training cutoff), and very large context windows. ClawBox lets you choose: use local models for privacy and offline use, or optionally route complex queries to cloud APIs when internet is available.
